Highlands Health Clinic Executive Director Rosalie Danchanko stood before the rally, her presence commanding attention as she spoke passionately to the crowd, which included many of her patients. With determination in her voice, she revealed that in 2024, Highlands Health had provided vital services to 1,200 Medicaid recipients in the community.
“These Medicaid cuts amount to a staggering $880 billion,” Danchanko proclaimed, her words resonating as she emphasized, “That’s my mantra.”
She painted a poignant picture of the Medicaid recipients, stressing that most of them are hardworking individuals who simply need a lifeline—whether it’s reliable transportation to their medical appointments, access to much-needed medications, or support for drug addiction recovery. Urging everyone present to take action, she called on them to “find their voice, vote, and stand up for their rights.”
With enthusiasm, Danchanko encouraged the crowd to whip out their smartphones and jot down a critical phone number for Joyce’s office. The number was prominently displayed, thanks to two dedicated individuals who held large signs high above the crowd.
In the midst of the gathering, a woman named Adrienne Daily stepped forward, her determination palpable as she dialed the number on her phone. With the crowd listening intently, she left a powerful voicemail that echoed her resolve: “Cuts to Medicaid will not be tolerated.”
